The National Health Insurance Authority NHIA Bauchi Office has Organised Stakeholders Engagement Forum on the ongoing reforms by the Authority.

Declaring the Forum Open, the Director General of the Authority, Dr kelechi Ohiri said the Stakeholders would also be sensitize on the enrollees rights while seeking medical care.

Dr Kelechi Ohiri who was represented by the Bauchi State Coordinator NHIA Malam Mustapha Muhammad explain that some of the new reforms introduce by the Authority include self service registration Portal for the enrollee to register, addition of dependents and any other services from their comport zones.

Dr Ohiri reiterate that Enrollee would no longer spend more than an hour waiting for referral code before treatment.

The NHIA Director General assured that the Authority is committed to addressing any challenges enrollees are facing while accessing health care services at any facilities.

Dr Kelechi Ohiri further said that, the Implementation of mandatory health insurance scheme is a legal requirements for all citizens and legal residents in Nigeria to have health insurance coverage.

Dr Ohiri explain that the Authority has also increase Capitation given to hospitals for improve service delivery.

He therefore appeal to enrollees to always report denial of service, drugs out of stock and any breached of their right at facilities to NHIA Office nearest to them or call phone number 07069247344 for immediate response.

In a presentation on NHIA Business Process Musa Mohammed Dantayi Said the services covered under NHIA include Formal and Informal sector, vulnerable group social health insurance, Comprehensive emergency maternal and neonatal care among others.

Also presenting a Paper on Compliance and enforcement, Abubakar Sani enjoined Health Care Providers to avoid sharp practice as the Authority would continued to enforce relevant laws to protect the interest of the enrollees.

Some of the participants Complaints about denial of service, drugs out of stock, delay in treatment, delay in reimbursement to Hospitals among others.

The theme of the forum is Chronicles of new NHIA toward universal health coverage.

The Forum drew stakeholders from different MDAs, HMOs, Hospitals, Media, security agencies among others.
