Twenty four Primary school and primary healthcare facilities in five local government areas in Bauchi State have been selected to benefit from Climate Resilient Infrastructure for Basic Services (CRIBS) Project, phase II.
There are fifteen Primary Schools and nine primary health care centres which were spread across the benefiting local government areas.
The project aims to strengthen service delivery, improve resilient climate-related interventions, enhance essential basic services in primary schools and primary health care facilities across the state.
CRIBS Project is funded by the UK Government under the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), through the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) Nigeria.
At the official launch of the project, held at Banquet Hall, Bauchi Government House, Governor Bala Mohammed said CRIBS Project is in tandem with his administration’s policy of ensure a turnaround in climate-related issue, particularly in the education and health sectors.

Represented by his deputy, Muhammad Auwal Jatau, the Governor appreciated UK Government, UNICEF and other partners for their trust and confidence in his leadership style by introducing numerous interventions in the state.
The Chief of UNICEF Bauchi Field Office, Dr Nuzhat Rafique said the project would focus on climate-related services, such as provision of water, solar system and tree planting to motivate the impact of high temperature, heatwave and other unfriendly conditions.
Dr Rafique commended the state government for its commitment in various aspects of children’s welfare and assured continued partnership towards ensuring their growth, development and attainment of their full potential.
On his Part, the Executive Chairman of the State Primary Health Care Board, Dr Rilwanu Mohammed stated that the local government areas to benefit from the CRIBS Project include Darazo, Itas Gadau, Gamawa, Katagum and Shira.

He explained the local governments were selected based on the last year’s assessment of local government areas that were most hit by flood and windstorm.
