The Bauchi State government has trained 570 Students from different Secondary schools in various trades to equip them with practical skills before graduation, foster innovation and reduce youth unemployment.

The training programme, held at the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Centre, exposed students to practical skills such as welding and fabrication, shoe and bag making, garment production, beads making, satellite installation, furniture making, and tailoring.
Speaking during the ceremony, the State Commissioner of Education, Abdulkadir Ibrahim, said the initiative will ensure secondary school students acquire practical skills that would help them become self-dependent and productive members of the society.
Abdulkadir Ibrahim who restated commitment to imparting sound knowledge, vocational and entrepreneurial skills on the students, disclosed plans to provide machines and equipment to support the students to establish themselves in their chosen trades.
He said the state government remains dedicated to expanding technical and vocational education as part of efforts to tackle unemployment and youth restiveness in the state.
“We are not only impacting knowledge but also skills that students can rely on after school,” the Commissioner says.
Abdulkadir Ibrahim also thanked the present administration for supporting the programme and in providing a conducive learning environment for children in the state.
The commissioner assured the beneficiaries that the ministry would continue to monitor their progress to ensure they effectively utilise the training received.
