Bauchi State House of Assembly’s Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs has embarked on an oversight visit to Toro Local Government Area to inspect projects and assess the performance of the council in service delivery and infrastructure development.
During the oversight visit to the area, the committee inspected several projects jointly executed by the state and the local government council.
The Chairman of the Committee, Bala Abdullahi Dan, emphasized that beyond inspecting physical projects, the committee is also evaluating the level of collaboration and coordination among key stakeholders in the councils, noting that such synergy is critical for achieving sustainable development and effective local governance.
The Executive Chairman of Toro Local Government, Ibrahim Abubakar Dambo, appreciated the committee’s visit and reaffirmed the council’s commitment to transparency and service delivery.
He highlighted the establishment of a Community Development Committee to address pressing community needs and disclosed that despite limited monthly allocation the council ensures that each ward benefits from tangible projects.
Dambo further explained that the vast landmass of Toro Local Government, coupled with persistent security challenges, continues to place significant pressure on the council’s limited resources and administrative capacity.
In their separate remarks, members of the committee Bala Abdu Rishi and Bello Sarkin Jadori cautioned the chairman against being lop-sided in running the affairs of the local council and advised councilors of the area to always remain disciplined and accountable at all times.
During the visit the Committee inspected the renovation and upgrading of district heads’ palaces in Toro, Lame, and Gumau areas as well as the construction of a 700-meter access road at Toro General Hospital.
