Stakeholders in media practice in Bauchi State have praised the government’s decision to upgrade the NUJ secretariat, describing it as a positive step toward improving journalism and providing a better working environment.
They also described the initiative by Governor Bala Mohammed’s led administration as the recognition of the media’s role in social mobilization and in encouraging public support for laudable government initiatives aimed at achieving societal development and improved community welfare.

Speaking after inspecting the ongoing project, the Chairman of the state Broadcasting Corporation Alhaji Inuwa Bello said the gesture would undoubtedly boost productivity among working journalists, enhance motivation and professional commitment within the state’s media sector.
Also speaking, the Northeast Zonal Director of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria FRCN, Malam Dahiru Garba described the development as timely noting that it has the potential to strengthen media capacity and public engagement in state affairs.
Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Bauchi State Council, Comrade Umar Sa’idu said upon completion, the upgraded facility would host more media-related events, improve visibility, engagement, and revenue generation for journalists.
Radio Nigeria reports that the project involves upgrading existing offices, modernizing conference halls, constructing a new events hall, and establishing commercial shops to support sustainable operations and professional activities for media practitioners.
