The Misau Local Government Area of Bauchi State has launched an enrollment drive aimed at bringing 5,000 out-of-school children back to classrooms for the 2025/2026 academic session.
The Chairman of Misau Local Government Area Alhaji Salisu Hussaini Hardawa, disclosed while speaking with journalists at the newly constructed Mega School built by the Bauchi State Government through the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB).
Alhaji Hussaini Hardawa said the Council, in partnership with traditional institutions, has begun identifying children who abandoned school due to poverty and other social factors, with plans to reintegrate them into the education system.
He said the Council will collaborate closely with Misau’s traditional rulers to ensure maximum utilization of the Mega School, stressing that adequate arrangements are in place to maintain facilities.
The Chairman reaffirmed that qualified teachers will be employed, while existing ones will be supported with teaching materials and instructional aids. However, he warned that erring teachers would face sanctions in line with SUBEB’s directive.

Earlier, the Misau Education Secretary, Muhammad Bashir Darazo, explained that the Mega School consists of 20 classrooms, 10 staff offices, and a well-equipped administrative block. Each classroom, he noted, can conveniently accommodate at least 50 pupils with newly provided desks and other facilities, including conveniences for both staff and pupils.
“We are happy to have a Mega School in Misau and I asuure you that we will do our best to maintain it and make it functional. We will ensure that the facilities are put to maximum utilisation.”
On his part, the State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Usman Shehu Usman, who led journalists on a tour of state government projects, said the initiative is part of Governor Bala Mohammed’s commitment to tackling the out-of-school children challenge and decongesting classrooms across the 20 LGAs of Bauchi State
