Speaking during a one day Media engagement meeting Organised by the State Primary Healthcare Development Board, the Executive Chairman Dr Rilwanu Mohammed enjoined media practioners to use their platforms in disseminating the importance of the forthcoming supplemental National Immunization Plus days (SNIPDs) schedules.
Dr Rilwanu Mohammed who was represented by the Director Primary Healthcare of the Board Dr Sufyan Mohammed explain that the Campaign would include administering of Malaria Vaccine to Children from 5 weeks to 3 month of age.
Dr Rilwanu Mohammed assured that the Board has adequate vaccines through out the Campaign and beyond.
Speaking on the role of Media Stakeholders in the successful implementation of the Campaign, the Information officer of the Board Ibrahim Sani, said media play crucial role in informing, mobilisation and engaging communities.
Ibrahim Sani appeal to media practioners to disseminate information on the importance and safety of vaccines to counter misinformation and rumors through expert interviews, fact check and talk shows.
Some of Journalists who spoke Elizabeth Karh, Ishaq Haruna Hardawa, Danjuma Sarki Sale assured their readiness in sensitizing the public about the forthcoming supplemental National Immunization Plus days.
Participants were drawn from Broadcast, Print, New Media and Community Radio across Bauchi State.
The National Immunization Plus days are mass vaccination campaign, often conducted in rounds, designed to supplement routine immunization by reaching all children under five years regardless of their previous vaccination status to interrupt the circulation of Polio.
