Northern Leaders especially Governors, Ministers and Lawmakers have been urged to brainstorm and proffer lasting solutions to the lingering challenges bedevilling the region for rapid progress and development.
A Political Scientist and Zonal Director NorthEast of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria FRCN, Comrade Dahiru Garba Muhammad made the call on Ina Muka Dosa, a Globe FM Bauchi audience participatory programme on the Fifty Years anniversary since the creation of Bauchi State.
Comrade Dahiru Garba said the problems affecting the northern region to include insecurity, youth restiveness, lack of industries, poverty, illiteracy have lingered for so long without concrete solution, hence the need for leaders to unite towards fighting the cancer worm.
He said the leaders must align themselves with the vision of the late Premier of Northern region Sir Ahmadu Bello to ensure the north competes with other regions in terms of infrastructure, educational status and economy.
On the Fifty years anniversary of Bauchi State, the Political historian called for the creation of additional local governments in the state for justice and equity and the actualisation of Katagum State for greater representation and prosperity.
Comrade Dahiru Garba who identified the need to break the monopoly, domination by larger ethnicities and political reach as some of the reason for creation of states, acknowledged the transformation of the year state from rural in outlook during first Military Governor Bello Khaliel to the present dispensation.
