An Elder Statesman and Politician Alhaji Mahmud Adamu has advised the Bauchi State Government to prioritise the payment of Gratuities owed retirees instead of fixing Special Allowances for Imams and Pastors in the state.
The Seasoned Politician made the call on Ina Muka Dosa, a Globe FM Bauchi audience participatory on the Fifty Years anniversary since the creation of Bauchi State.
Alhaji Mahmud Adamu who holds the traditional title of Barden Bauchi Kerarriya, said most of the retirees who served from the nineties to date have sacrificed their time, energy and youth towards the development of the state, hence the need for the government to pay their entitlements for justice and accountability.
He said religious leaders to include Imams and Pastors are by their social standings ordained community leaders who perform voluntary services without recourse for financial gains or reward.
Barden Bauchi Kerarriya used the medium to appeal to well meaning religious leaders to advise the government on the need to halt such a move considering the plight of retirees in the state.
Mahmud Adamu also advised youth to borrow a leap from the founding fathers of Bauchi State by being dedicated, resilient and accountable in all their dealings and do away with monetary rewards in everything they do ensure greater prosperity for the state.
Callers to the programme, Kabir Kandahar and Muhammad Musa Dambam who acknowledged the sacrifice made to actualise Bauchi State, prayed for continued prosperity and rapid socioeconomic development of the state.
