Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has charged academic institutions to promote research, innovation, and character development among students to ensure relevance in contemporary society across the country and beyond.
The governor gave the charge while delivering a convocation address at Sa’adu Zungur University Gadau, maintaining that education remains central to his administration’s development agenda with consistent budgetary support and reforms.
Governor Bala Mohammed cited over fifteen percent annual budget allocation and significant investments in infrastructure aimed at improving academic standards across tertiary institutions in the state for sustainable growth and quality learning.

He congratulated graduating students across all disciplines and urged them to become job creators and problem solvers, stressing that degrees offer opportunities, not guarantees in a competitive world.
The governor commended the university management for promoting academic excellence and warned institutions to uphold discipline and integrity with zero tolerance for drug abuse and sexual harassment in institutions.
Vice Chancellor Professors Fatima Tahir said the university remains committed to producing academically sound and socially responsible graduates through research, knowledge creation, and human capital development across campuses and programmes.
She appreciated the state government for constructing internal roadsideto, a medical college and staff quarters in all the university’s four campuses.
