Bauchi State Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, has inaugurated Technical Working Group (TWG) for Health State Adaptation Plan (HSAP) with a view to building resilient health systems that can withstand climate-related issues.
The TWG has the Ministry’s Director of Public Health, Abdullahi Danasabe as Chairman, Muhammad Shafiu Ibrahim as
Secretary, with Auwal Mohammed Ahmed, Nuru Yakubu Umar, Ibrahim Mohammed, Mohammed D. Jibrin, Nasiru Umar and Mohammed Sunusi Ladan, as members
Other members include Murtala Muhammad of Globe FM Bauchi representing NUJ, Rafilawus Yohanna Iliya, Adamu Nayola, Dr. Sani Abdulkarim Giade, Tahir Abdulhamid Tahir, Mahmood Bala Umar, Mu’azu Aminu Aliyu, Muktar Yarima Giade, a representative of State Bureau of Statistics, and a representative of NIMET.
Terms of Reference for the newly inaugurated Technical include
-To Review and adapt the Health National Climate Change Adaptation Plan (HNAP) to the Bauchi State context.
-To Lead climate-health vulnerability, exposure, and risk assessments.
-To Identify priority adaptation actions across health system building blocks.
-To Ensure effective stakeholder engagement and multisectoral collaboration.
Others are:
-To develop a costed HSAP with a clear implementation roadmap.
-To propose monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning mechanisms.
– To support advocacy and resource mobilization for HSAP implementation and
-To provide periodic progress reports to the Ministry’s leadership.
In separate remarks, the state Commissioner for Health and Social Welfare, Dr Sani Mohammed Dambam and the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Malam Dauda Mahmood tasked members of the TWG to justify the confidence reposed on them.
