The Federal Polytechnic Bauchi says it will continue to uphold its standards in partnerships and academic excellence by nurturing graduates who are not only intellectually sound but morally upright and socially responsible.
The Rector of the Institution Alhaji Sani Usman stated this at the 2025/2026 Matriculation Ceremony for Students Admitted into its Degree Programmes in Affiliation with Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, ATBU Bauchi, held at the 510 lecture hall.
Alhaji Sani Usman represented by the Deputy Rector Dr Dalhatu Saidu who commended both academic and non-academic staff, particularly the Directorate of University Affiliations and Linkages for their tireless efforts in making the programme a success, assured parents of full commitment to their children’s academic excellence and sound moral development.
“I encourage you to direct your energy toward purposeful academic engagement. Apply yourselves diligently to your studies, maintain regular attendance at lectures, participate actively in all academic activities, and nurture values that will set you apart as worthy ambassadors of both Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University and Federal Polytechnic, Bauchi”, the Rector charges.

In his address, the Vice-Chancellor of ATBU, Professor Ibrahim Garba, represented by Professor Abubakar Garba said the oath taken by the matriculants is an indication of their readiness to abide by the laws and statutes of the university and rules guiding the polytechnic, noting that anything contrary may lead to suspension, rustication or expulsion.
Professor Garba used the medium to remind them of ATBU’s policy of zero tolerance to all kinds of vices and anti-social behaviours such as cultism, examination mal-practice, sexual harassment, drug abuse, indecent dressing, vandalism and truancy.
“Let me make it further clear that our duty is not only to give you access to knowledge, but we are duty bound also to help in molding your character so that you become responsible citizens of our dear nation. Those who are too arrogant to conform to the rules and regulations governing their stay on campus will be shown the way out. Therefore, the oath you have taken today, is an indication of your readiness to abide by ATBU laws and statutes as well as. a promise that you will conduct yourself with decorum during your stay in this institution”, the VC warns.
The matriculation ceremony which is the fourth under the degree affiliation programme between the two institutions, saw 73 Direct Entry DE and UTME students admitted into Engineering and Environmental programmes.
The Deputy Registrar ATBU Hajiya Hadiza Mailafiya administered the Matriculation Oath to the newly admitted students.
