Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH) Bauchi, has clarified its inclusion in the Federal Government’s subsidised kidney dialysis programme at the approved rate of twelve thousand naira.

A statement by the hospital’s Public Relations Officer, Usman Abdullahi Koli says ATBUTH has been providing subsidised dialysis services since January this year, with over eight hundred and ninety-seven patients already benefiting from Bauchi and neighbouring states as well as the North-East sub-region.

It explains that consumables are fully covered within the approved rate, thereby easing patients’ financial burden and ensuring quality, affordable care for people battling kidney-related ailments across the region.

According to the statement apart from kidney dialysis, ATBUTH Bauchi has implemented the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda by offering free caesarean section services since November 2024, with over one thousand mothers and babies benefiting.

The programme covers surgery, medication, and post-operative care, ensuring safer deliveries and improved maternal healthcare outcomes for vulnerable families in Bauchi State and other communities within the zone.

The statement notes that ATBUTH Bauchi is a pioneer in the National Emergency Medical Service and Ambulance System, NEMSAS, which provides forty-eight hours free emergency care for patients.

Management of the hospital reaffirms commitment to supporting government policies on healthcare delivery, stressing that ATBUTH remains fully aligned with the vision of affordable, quality and compassionate healthcare for Nigerians, particularly the vulnerable population.
