Teachers in Bauchi State have been charged to always update their knowledge and teaching methodology in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Agriculture STEMA to strengthen pupils/students educational foundation in science and technology related fields.

The Education Secretary Darazo Local Education Authority LEA Malam Sallau Nuhu made the call at the opening of a 5-day training for 200 basic, upper basic teachers and School Managers from Bauchi Central Zone organised by the Northeast Development Commission NEDC through Anchille Technology Concept limited in collaboration with Bauchi State government at Misau.

The training is on effective teaching and learning of Science Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Agriculture (STEMA) on School Management, Classroom Management Guidance and Counseling, English Language & Quality Assurance Methodologies.

Malam Sallau Nuhu who spoke on behalf of other education secretaries in the zone, highlighted the importance of the training towards imparting the right knowledge on the children, and urged them to transform the educational system for rapid socio-economic development.

“The training has captured all the important aspects of educational needs because it will help the teachers to learn the methodology of imparting knowledge on the children, stakeholders must work towards strengthening the educational foundation of the child for positive learning outcomes”, he explains.

In a remark, the Provost A.D Rufai College of Education, Legal and General Studies Misau Dr Auwal Amba represented by the Registrar Malam Musa Gar appreciated the NEDC for building the capacity of teachers and hoped that the training will result in improved educational outcome.

“I want to appreciate the NEDC for its continued effort in building the capacity of teachers as education serves as the foundation to positive development”, the Provost notes.

The Bauchi State Coordinator NEDC Alhaji Aliyu Isyaku who expressed regret over the devastating effect of insurgency towards educational delivery in the northeast, reiterated the commission’s effort to the recovery of the subregion especially in the education sector.

“Today marks the beginning of a new journey to enhance our teaching methodologies and deepening our understanding in terms of our scientific concept, fostering a community of educators dedicated to inspiring the next generation of our scientists and educational thinkers in the northeast”, the NEDC Coordinator emphasises.

In their separate remarks, the Training Consultant Dr Auwal Haruna and Chairman Misau Local Council Alhaji Salisu Hussaini represented by the Chief Administrative Officer Muhammad Baba Abubakar appealed to all the participants to open themselves to learning new ideas and ensure to step down the knowledge gained on their colleagues.

Speaking to Radio Nigeria, one of the participants from Misau Central Primary and Junior Secondary School Muhammad Baba Waziri expressed delight for being part of the training and promised to impart the knowledge on both students and his colleagues.
