The Joint Action Committee of Academic and Non Academic Staff Unions of Bauchi State Owned Tertiary Institutions has commended the state government for the implementation of 90 percent salary increments to its members.

Speaking about the development, Chairman of the Committee, Comrade Abubakar Ahmad said implementation of the new Salary Structure of COMPCASS and CONTEDISS is a great milestone in improving the welfare of the staff working in the tertiary institutions in the State.

“This approval is a clear demonstration of Governor Bala’s administration sensitivity to the needs of the workforce and the union commends this bold and historic decision”. Comrade Abubakar noted.

He therefore draw the attention of the State’s government that some staff have experienced shortfalls in their June Salary ranging from 2,000 to 40,000 naira and called on the relevant authorities to investigate and address the anomalies.

The JAC Chairman also raised concerns on some provisions of the newly established Bauchi State Contributory Pension Commission, describing them as anti workers.

Comrade Abubakar Ahmad reaffirmed that official communication about the reservation is forwarded to the office of the State Head of Civil Service and the need to do the needful.

He assured their readiness to ensure industrial harmony through constructive engagement and dialogue for the progress of the education sector in the state.

“We will continue to champion the welfare of our members and contribute meaningfully to the development of Bauchi State”. The JAC Chairman said.

Comrade Abubakar Ahmad appreciated the efforts of the Speaker, Bauchi State House of Assembly Abubakar Suleman, office of the Head of Civil Service, Nigeria Labour Congress, TUC, JNC among others, for their role in achieving the success.

The JAC Chairman appealed to members of the committee to rededicate themselves towards impacting knowledge to students to justify government’s huge spending in the education sector.

” JAC members your patience, unity and resilience were pivotal in achieving this success, we also recognize the efforts of our parents, students and the general public for their understanding, encouragement and unwavering support”. He added .
