The Bauchi State Government says it will sponsor 100 candidates to sit for the 2026 National Common Entrance Examination NCEE as part of efforts to increase admission into Federal Unity Colleges.
A statement by the Information and Public Relations Officer, State Ministry of Education Jalaludeen Usman says the Commissioner of Education, Alhaji Abdulkadir Ibrahim, stated when he received a delegation from the Federal Ministry of Education on advocacy visit as part of a nationwide campaign to improve awareness and participation in the NCEE, particularly in regions with historically low enrolment in Federal Unity Colleges.
Alhaji Abdulkadir who reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to improving access to education, noted that the administration consistently sponsors students for external examinations such as WAEC, NECO, and JAMB without discrimination.
“As long as a child is schooling in Bauchi State, he or she benefits from government support. This demonstrates our commitment to education as a tool for unity and development,” the Commissioner says.
He assured the Ministry of the state’s readiness to collaborate in strengthening the education sector, stressing that education remains a collective responsibility.
Earlier, the Minister of Education Dr Tunji Alausa, who said the initiative was designed to mobilize parents, guardians, and educators to encourage more candidates to register for the examination scheduled for June 6, emphasised the need for stakeholders in the north to address the low enrolment of students in Unity Schools.
Dr Alausa represented by the Desk Officer, Northern Zone, Mrs Cheka Murs, described secondary education as a vital stage in national development, noting that it equips young people with the necessary skills and knowledge to navigate a rapidly changing world while preparing them for higher education.
“The Federal Government is committed to ensuring equitable access to quality education across the country. This advocacy is part of our broader effort to promote national unity and academic excellence through the Federal Unity Colleges,” He says.
The Minister called on stakeholders in Bauchi State to support the campaign by ensuring that more eligible pupils register for the examination, thereby enabling the state to fully utilize its admission quota in Unity Schools.
