A Prominent Islamic Scholar and Leader of the Tijjaniya Sect in Nigeria Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi has passed away last night, Wednesday the 26th of November 2025, at the age of 103.
Confirming the sad event to Radio Nigeria Correspondent Alhassan Usman, a Media aide to the revered Scholar Ahmad Muhammad Saka said Sheikh Dahiru died at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Teaching Hospital Bauchi during a protracted illness.
Ahmad Muhammad confirmed that funeral prayers for the deceased will be held at his residence along Gombe road, in Bauchi metropolis on Friday, the 28th of November to enable his teaming followers and other spiritual leaders from across the Islamic world attend.
The demise of Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi has thrown the Muslims Ummah especially followers of the Tijjaniya sect into mourning due to his commitment and long standing history to Islamic preaching.
The late Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi started his Islamic education under his biological father, Alhaji Usman where he Memorised the Glorious Qur’an before the age of 20.
The deceased who was once recognised as one of the Greatest translators of the Glorious Qur’an by an International Islamic Organisation, started the detailed explanation, interpretation, and commentary of the Qur’an (Tafsir) in the year 1950 in Bauchi.
The famous Bauchi Radio Corporation BRC started airing his Tafsir in the year 1976.
Sheikh Tahir Bauchi was said to have relocated to Kaduna State for his annual Ramadan Tafsir in 1980, with Radio Nigeria Kaduna also taking up the airing of the tafsir series.
The deceased Scholar is survived by 4 wives, 84 children, 406 grand children and 100 great grand children.
Among his Children are Alhaji Ibrahim Dahiru Bauchi, Malam Tijjani Dahiru Bauchi among others.
