Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has approved the total upgrade of the State Secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists NUJ.
A statement signed by the Secretary, NUJ Bauchi Council Isah Garba Gadau says the approved contract as contained in the approval letter includes renovation and modernization of the Secretariat and the Construction of a state of the art conference Hall.
The statement says the Governor also approved the installation of a Solar Powered electricity to cushion the hardship being experienced by the practicing Journalists operating in the Secretariat.
It expresses the union’s heartfelt appreciation to the Governor, for fulfilling his promise to upgrade the NUJ Press Centre, while commending his dedication to Press welfare, support and development which inspires journalists in the state.
According to the statement, the council which believes that the gesture will go a long way in improving the working environment, pledged to use the facility judiciously.
It also promise to continue to support the state government towards providing development programmes to the citizens by adhering to the provision of the NUJ code of ethics.
