The Bauchi State Government has presented 30 motorcycles and two cars to the newly inaugurated Committee for the Sensitization on Peaceful Coexistence in Tafawa Balewa and Bogoro Local Government Areas to support its assignment.
Presenting the vehicles at Government House, Bauchi, the Secretary to the State Government Alhaji Aminu Hammayo, said the gesture was in fulfillment of Governor Bala Mohammed’s earlier promise.
He stressed the importance of the committee’s assignment noting that members are expected to traverse all nooks and crannies of the two local governments to sensitize residents on the need to embrace peace for the overall development of the state.
While urging the 30-member committee to live up to its responsibilities, Hammayo assured that the government would continue to provide more support to ensure their success.
Speaking on behalf of the committee, the co-chairmen, Malam Faizu Ado Musa Tafawa Balewa and Reverend Father Benson Bature pledged to utilize the vehicles strictly for the purpose they were provided.
They also commended the state government for its prompt intervention in containing the recent conflict in the area before it escalated.
