A bill to establish the Bauchi State Chieftaincy Law and for other related matters has passed second reading at the Bauchi State House of Assembly.
The resolution followed deliberations during plenary presided over by the Speaker, Abubakar Suleiman, seeks the approval of the creation of thirteen new Emirates across different local government areas of the state.
The proposed emirates include Burra, Ari, and Warji in Ningi Local Government Area, Dambam in Dambam Local Government, Duguri in Alkaleri Local Government, as well as Toro, Jama’a, and Lame from Toro Local Government Area.
Others are Darazo in Darazo Local Government, Gamawa in Gamawa Local Government, Bununu and Lere in Tafawa Balewa Local Government, Giade in Giade Local Government and the Sayawa Chiefdom with its headquarters at Mhrim/Namchi area.
Meanwhile, the House also received a list containing the names of 116 new districts proposed to be created across various local government areas of the state.
In his ruling, the Speaker referred the bill to the House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs for further legislative consideration and directed the committee to report back within two weeks for onward passage.
