Bauchi Local Education Authority LEA says dozens of Schools under its jurisdiction have been either renovated or provided with furniture in the last one year.
The Education Secretary of the LEA Hajiya Talatu Yakubu gave the indication while speaking with Radio Nigeria on the achievements recorded in the last one year under her stewardship.
Hajiya Talatu Yakubu said the authority through the State Universal Basic Education Board SUBEB has embarked on a special emergency repairs of blown away roofing sheets in schools across the council to ensure a conducive atmosphere for teaching and learning.
She noted that the LEA has ensured strict supervision of pupils attendance and teachers punctuality in schools across all nooks and crannies of the local government.
The Executive Secretary who identified the shortage of teachers as one of the challenges facing the LEA acknowledged the effort of the present administration to address the issue with the ongoing recruitment exercise and teachers’ welfare.
Hajiya Talatu used the medium to appreciate the immediate past Executive Chairman SUBEB Alhaji Adamu Duguri, traditional leaders and other stakeholders for their collaborative efforts towards reducing the number of out-of-school children in the state.
She also acknowledged the positive impact of the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment AGILE Programme where thousands of girls benefited from cash support to enable them cater for their school needs under the Conditional Cash Transfer component of the project.
