An academic with the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Professor Adisa Ademola Bello has identified character as the basis to defeating insurgency, banditry and terrorism bedevilling Nigeria.
He made the identification at the 2026 Public Lecture and Annual General Meeting, organised by the Nigerian Society of Engineers, NSE Bauchi Branch.
Professor Adisa Bello who served as the Guest Speaker at the occasion said the country’s security challenges cannot be adequately addressed without good character, calling on all citizens to contribute towards national development.
He noted that in addition to deployment of latest technological equipment, individuals must do their own part to achieve the desired goal.
In a remark, the President of the NSE, Engr. Ali Rabi’u represented by a National Executive, Engr. Usman Abubakar expressed displeasure over members’ non compliance to the Society’s registration and their poor attendance of the AGMs, calling for urgent action to reverse the trend.
On his part, the host and General Manager, Yankari Transport Corporation, Engr. Iliyasu Sulaiman said the engineers being professionals were playing a vital role in every given society, assuring the corporation readiness to contribute in that direction.
Also Speaking, the State Commissioner for Works and Transportation, Professor Titus Ketkuka commended members of the NSE for their professional contribution and expertise in the state’s development, pledging government support and cooperation with the NSE to deliver quality projects to people of the state.
