Bauchi State Independent Electoral Commission (BASIEC) has expressed commitment towards conducting free fair and peaceful local government councils election scheduled for Monday 17 August, 2026.

The Chairperson of the Commission Hajiya Jummai Abubakar stated this at a training, organised for election personnel preparatory to the forthcoming election.

Hajiya Jummai Abubakar exqxplained that the election would be conducted in the 323 wards across the twenty local government areas, urging the personnel to maintain high level of professionalism for the success of the exercise.

According to the BASIEC Chairperson, the training was designed to equip the participants with the requisite knowledge and skills of electoral procedures and proper handling of sensitive and non sensitive materials among others.

She commended the permanent commissioners and other management staff of the Commission for their dedication and teamwork in the build up to the forthcoming election in the state.

Earlier, the Chairman, Committee on Election Matters, Bauchi State House of Assembly, Adamu Salihu assured of continued legislative support to the BASIEC for effective service delivery.

Radio Nigeria, Globe FM Bauchi gathered that the training had as participants Electoral Returning and Administrative Officers of the twenty local government areas of Bauchi State.
