The Wife of the President, Senator Oluremi Tinubu has reiterated commitment to improving the welfare of Senior citizens particularly those that served the nation in various capacities through the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) Elderly Support Scheme, (RHIESS) third edition.
The scheme is designed to provide financial support to two hundred and fifty elderly citizens drawn from the thirty-six states of the federation, the Federal Capital Territory, as well as the Armed Forces, Nigeria Police and other Veterans, has as theme “Finding Joy in Old Age.”
Speaking at the launch of the Scheme in Bauchi State, the Chairperson RHI Senator Oluremi Tinubu, represented by the Wife of the State Deputy Governor, Hajiya Asma’u Muhammad Jatau, said the initiative underscores government’s resolve to ensure that elderly citizens are not neglected but supported to live a dignified and fulfilled life.
Oluremi Tinubu said the scheme under the Social Investment Component of the initiative will support 250 elderly person in each of the 36 states of the federation and the FCT.
She noted that the Renewed Hope Initiative remains focused on social inclusion, compassion, and shared responsibility for the aged, particularly those who have served the nation in various capacities.
Speaking to Radio Nigeria, some of the beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the First Lady for the support, describing it as timely and reassuring.
