Peace Ambassadors have advocated constitutional reforms to address governance challenges, stressing that inherited structures no longer meet the demands of diverse and socio-political complexities of the country.

One of them and Keynote Speaker at the 22nd Annual Peace Conference held in Bauchi, Dr Abdullahi Idiris said adopting a governance model that links peace, security, and development, were strong pillars that brings about decisive leadership.

According to him, this will bring about institutional renewal, and inclusive policies that support long-term national stability and cohesion.

He advised government to strengthen institutions by improving accountability, promoting social mobility, and aligning policies with community needs.

Dr Idris recommended deploying a conflict-response framework integrating peace, security, development, human rights, and humanitarian action, noting this approach provides a practical tool for addressing Nigeria’s complex tensions and deep-rooted governance challenges.

According to him, national security should prioritise investment in education, healthcare, employment opportunities for youth and reconciliation, warning that failure to tackle exclusion, would make young people engage in all sorts of criminal activities.

The State Commission of Police, CP Sani Omolori-Aliyu represented by DCP Mohammed Hassan called for collective efforts and cooperation to tackle security threats, and bring about peace that would be enjoyed by all and sundry.

He commended Governor Bala Mohammed for his doggedness in facing the security breach recently experienced in some communities of Alkaleri local government area of Bauchi State, reaffirming without that the relative peace being enjoyed would not have been possible.
