The Bauchi State Coalition of Fulfulde Association have cautioned their members against trespassing beyond designated grazing routes, urging strict compliance to prevent conflicts with farming communities.
The State Chairman of the Coalition Alhaji Kabiru Yusuf Adam Tilde, gave the warning after an executive council meeting of the association held in Bauchi.
He said the advisory became necessary as the rainy season approaches, a period often associated with increased tensions between farmers and herders.
Alhaji Kabiru Yusuf Adam Tilde also appealed to farmers to refrain from encroaching on officially demarcated right-of-way corridors, stressing that such routes are essential for the smooth movement of livestock without disruption.
Commenting on the closure of some cattle markets in Bauchi South, he urged pastoralists to remain patient, noting that the state government is taking steps to address insecurity in the affected areas.
He commended both the federal and state governments for ongoing efforts to improve the security situation across the state.
On his part, the State Chairman of the Sameru Fulbe Association, Alhaji Yakubu Jibrin who also serves as the coalition’s Public Relations Officer, said the State government has established mobile courts to prosecute individuals who violate grazing route regulations.
Alhaji Yakubu Jibrin called on both farmers and herders to abide by existing laws to ensure sustainable peace and coexistence across the State.
