The Executive Chairman Bauchi State Universal Basic Education Board SUBEB, Alhaji Adamu Duguri has directed the dismissal of any teacher or SBMC official found sabotaging the Enrolment of children into school.
Similarly, the SUBEB Chairman called for a stiffer measure against any traditional ruler, title holder and community leader found sabotaging the Enrolment Drive Campaign especially as it relates to low intake figures in their domains.
Alhaji Adamu Duguri made the call during the launch of the 2025/2026 Statewide Enrolment Drive Campaign EDC held at Kirfi local government area.
The SUBEB Chairman who is the District Head of Duguri said traditional institutions have now taken centre stage in terms of schools enrolment, monitoring and supervision, hence the need for them to ensure mass mobilisation of school aged children to reduce the number of Out of School Children in the state.
He recalled how himself, Governor Bala Mohammed in company of their mother would trek long distance just to access school facilities, warning that any parent or traditional leader found with laxity in enrolment effort should be stripped of their title.
Earlier, the Chief of Field Office, UNICEF Bauchi Dr Nuzhat Rafique who acknowledged the effort of the state government in reducing the number of Out of School Children from 1.2 million to five hundred thousand, said there is still a lot to be done to address the menace.
The Emir of Bauchi Dr Rilwanu Suleiman Adamu represented by the District Head of Kirfi Alhaji Lawal Muhammad who promised to ensure door to door mobilisation of children back to school, charged parents to support their children by removing all barriers to learning.
In a remark, the Host and Chairman Kirfi Local government Alhaji Abdulkadir Dewu expressed displeasure over the staggering two hundred thousand Out of School children in the area, with only 2 out of over 100 children attending school, warned that the situation must be checked to ensure a brighter future for the next generation and guarantee improved security and peace in the future.
In their seperate goodwill messages, the Executive Secretary UBEC Hajiya Aisha Garba represented by the Northeast Zonal Director Alhaji Abdullahi Jarma and the Chairman State Assembly Committee on Education Dr Nasir Ala said it is a duty upon parents and the community to ensure every child is enrolled into school, calling for strategic efforts towards reducing the numbers of OoSC, as well as ensure retention and completion.
Declaring the Campaign open, the State Commissioner of Education Dr Lawal Mohammed said the essence of bringing the campaign to Kirfi is not to show that the area is the most backward but to emphasis the need for stakeholders to take responsibility in ending the problem of OoSC in the area.
Also Speaking, the Commissioner of Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Management Hajiya Hajara Wanka said as an indigent of Kirfi, she will do everything within her power to ensure that the problem is eradicated completely from the area in mo distant future
