In an address the rising cases of insecurity in Bauchi, the state government has restricted commercial motor cycle operations from 6am to 8pm.
They are now to operate within the government approved hours effective from Thursday 17 April, 2026.
Similarly, Tricycle Riders are to operate between 6am and 10pm daily, following the recommendations of the Committee constituted by the state government, Chaired by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Aminu Hammayo.
These were announced by some members of the committee in a special Live Phone in Programme on Bauchi Radio Corporation (BRC) FM.
Members of the Committee include representatives of the State Road Traffic Agency, (BAROTA), Vehicle Inspection Office (VIO), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp (NCSDC), Nigeria Police and the State Association of Commercial Tricycle and Motorcycle Riders.
The Committee also announced other strategies to be adopted towards addressing insecurity in the state to include a Guarantor to each Okada and tricycle rider, National Identification Number (NIN), Body Code and Reflective Jacket.
The committee therefore advised the affected persons to abide by the directives as any one found wanting will not be spared.
Some callers to the programme applauded the initiative, stressing that the policy was long over due, considering the rising insecurity and other social vices attributed to some members of Commercial Tricycle and Motorcycle Riders in the state.
The registration according to the committee is to commence on Thursday 17 April,. 2026 at BAROTA Head Office along Gombe road in the State Capital.
Other offices designated for the registration are the Headquarters and Zonal office of the VIOs.
