Bauchi State Government and Labour unions have signed a Memorandum of Understanding, MoU for the upward review of Pensions from twelve thousand to thirty two thousand naira to align with the current National Minimum Pension.
Speaking at the ceremony, the State Head of Service, HOS Barrister Muhammad Sani Umar said the step followed the decision at the National level on the need to harmonise pensions at all levels in line with the newly approved national minimum pensions.
Barrister Sani Umar who said the review is for both state and local government pensioners, noted that consequential adjustment will be done later.
He congratulated the entire pensioners in the state for the development, promising to always give a listening ear to the labour unions in addressing emerging issues.
In their seperate goodwill messages, the Special Advisers to Governor Bala Mohammed on Labour and Civil Service Matters, Comrade Usman Danturaki and Mr Abdon Dalla Gin commended all the labour unions for their collaborative spirit and urged them to continue engaging the government for improved working conditions.
On their part, the State NLC Chairman Comrade Dauda Shu’aibu and State NUP Chairman Comrade Alhassan Abdullahi appreciated all stakeholders for working towards realising the the goal, and promised continued support to government to ensure a vibrant civil service.
Earlier, the Permanent Secretary General Administration office of the HOS, Barrister Dawud Mahmood Yakubu said the event marks legal recognition on the upward review of the state’s minimum pension from twelve to thirty two thousand naira.
