SAZU Matriculates 4,024, Warns Against Cultism, Misconduct.

Sa’adu Zungur University (SAZU) in Bauchi State has matriculated 4024 Students for the 2025/2026 Academic session with a call on them to be security conscious and abide by the provisions of the rules governing students conduct on campus.
The Vice Chancellor of the institution Professor Fatima Tahir who made the call during the matriculation ceremony of the newly admitted students said nine thousand three hundred and seventy-eight applicants were shortlisted for admission with only half getting the node.
Professor Fatima Tahir represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (DVC) Academics, Professor Bala Abdulhamid said out of the number, one thousand four hundred and thirty-four (1434) are females while two thousand, five hundred and ninety (2590) are males.
“The breakdown of those admitted are as follows: Faculty of Agric-335, Faculty of Arts -205, Faculty of BMS-507, Faculty of Edue.-461, Faculty of Law-59, Faculty of Mgt. Science 587, Faculty of Pharm. Science-58, Faculty of Science-935 and Faculty of Social Sciences-877”, the VC lists.
She advised the matriculants against engaging in anti-social behaviors to include cultism, examination misconduct, sexual harassment, drug abuse, indecent dressing, vandalism, sorting of lecturers by female students and truancy, warning that the University will not hesitate to take disciplinary measures against deviants.
“It should be noted that, the Oath you have taken is an acceptance to abide by Sa’adu Zungur University’s Laws, Statutes, Ordinances and Regulations as well as a promise that you will conduct yourself based on the provisions of the rules governing students conduct on campus as spelt out in students handbooks which will be given to you in due course during Faculties and Departmental orientations exercise”, Tahir emphasises.
The Vice Chancellor used the medium to appreciate the present administration for the special attention accorded to the institution, Shell Petroleum Development Company for building an ICT Centre at Gadau campus and TETFund for constructing students hostel to accommodate female students at its Yuli campus.
“I equally wish to express our gratitude to our host community and to urge the community leaders to do more in the area of security as we had a lot of security challenges in the previous session. It is worth noting that, our students contribute a lot to the economy of the host community which is the more reason why we should play a key role in securing the students”, She appeals.
In an interview, some of the matriculants Jessey Dauda from Public Administration, Musa Abdullahi from Accounting, as well as Rumaisa Abdullahi, Ummu Adiya Abdullahi, and Nmesoma Rejoice all from Political Science expressed gratitude for the opportunity to study at SAZU and promised to abide by all rules and regulations spelt out in the students handbooks.
Radio Nigeria learnt that the students were admitted into various courses under the Faculties of Agriculture, Arts, Basic Medical Sciences, Education, Law, Management Science, Pharmaceutical Science, Sciences and Social Sciences.
