The Technical Adviser of Wikki Tourists Football Club, Coach Bala Abubakar Mohammed, says the club is building a competitive squad capable of securing an immediate return to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
Coach Bala stated this during the club’s ongoing player screening and assessment exercise at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium in Bauchi.
He said every player participating in the exercise has been given an equal opportunity to earn a place in the team, stressing that selection will be based on quality, commitment, discipline, and readiness for the challenges of the new season.
The coach disclosed that Wikki Tourists have played six pre-season friendly matches, recording four victories and two defeats. According to him, the matches have provided the technical crew with the opportunity to assess the players and fine-tune the team ahead of the 2026/27 Nigeria National League (NNL) season.
He expressed confidence that, with the support of the club’s management, the Bauchi State Government, supporters, and other stakeholders, Wikki Tourists will achieve their objective of gaining promotion back to the NPFL.
Coach Bala added that the technical crew remains focused on assembling a balanced and competitive squad that will make the people of Bauchi proud throughout the upcoming campaign.
Wikki Tourists were relegated from the NPFL at the end of the 2025/26 season and will compete in the Nigeria National League during the 2026/27 campaign, with the club targeting an immediate return to the top flight.
