An Elder Statesman Senator Salisu Musa Matori has called for the preservation of family history through the documentation of personal and collective experiences for the younger generations to learn moral values and lessons.
Salisu Matori made the call at the launch of a Book on the history of the Late Malam Tallafi family authored by an Elder Statesman Alhaji Baba Abubakar Babaji Tura.
Represented by Alhaji Abdulkarim Salisu Matori, the Senator of the fourth Republic who called on families especially large nuclear ones to preserve their history for the benefit of the younger generations, praised the author for documenting personal and collective experiences that speaks to a wider social narrative.
The Septuagenarian said such works strengthen community bonds and provide younger generations with a moral and historical compass.
The Book reviewer and Galadiman Bauchi Surveyor Sa’idu Jahun represented by the Dean Faculty of Agriculture Federal Polytechnic Bauchi Dr. Abdullahi Muhammad recommended the book for families, local historians and anyone interested in grassroot accounts of social change.
On his part, the Author Alhaji Baba Abubakar Babaji Tura expressed gratitude to contributors and pledged that realised proceeds of the book launch would support community projects and educational initiatives tied to family welfare.
The book which contains the history of Late Malam Tallafi’ s family signifies heritage, community values and intergenerational memory.
It was written to build resilience in children, preserve memories, connect the younger generation with their roots as well as strengthen family bonds and unity.
Malam Tallafi, was born in the year 1860 from the family of renowned Islamic scholar Malam Muhammadu Rebo during the reign of late Emir of Bauchi Malam Ibrahim and died in 1932.
The event which had in attendance family members, friends, traditional leaders and readers, saw personalities emphasised the role of storytelling in passing values between generations, calling for more initiatives that documents lived experience at the family level.
