Staff of Bauchi State Television, BATV, are participating in a two-day capacity-building workshop on digital broadcasting techniques designed to improve productivity, strengthen professional skills and enhance quality service delivery.
The workshop, with the theme “Broadcasting in the Digital Era: Enhancing Digital Skills, Content Quality and Technical Excellence,” focuses on promoting media professionalism and strengthening effective public communication through sustained information sector investment.
Declaring the workshop open, Commissioner for Information and Communication, Dr. Usman Usman Shehu, said digital broadcasting has expanded BATV’s audience beyond Bauchi State, demanding greater professionalism and responsibility from practitioners.
Dr. Usman Shehu urged journalists to remain objective as the country approaches another election season, warning against misinformation on social media while stressing professional journalists remain the most trusted verified information source.

Royal Father of the Day, the Emir of Lame, Alhaji Aliyu Yakubu Lame, commended the Bauchi State Government for prioritising media development through continuous capacity-building initiatives.
The Emir urged journalists to uphold fairness, responsibility and patriotism in discharging their duties, emphasising that responsible journalism remains essential for promoting peace, national unity, stability and sustainable development nationwide.
The two-day workshop attracted journalists, broadcasters, media managers and communication experts across the state.
