The Bauchi State Government has trained 50 data processing officers and registry personnel on data protection and digital transformation as part of efforts to improve efficiency and service delivery across the state civil service.
Declaring the training open, the State Head of Civil Service, Muhammad Sani Umar, described the programme as timely, noting that it aligns with emerging trends in public service administration and the government’s commitment to digital governance.
Muhammad Sani Umar Esq, said the state government remains committed to building a modern and technology-driven civil service through continuous capacity development of its workforce.
He said the training covered key areas including cybersecurity, data protection, digitisation, and modern records management.
The Head of Civil Service, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Establishment and SERVICOM Matters Bureau, Dawood Mahmoud Yakubu Esq, urged participants to pay close attention to the presentations and share the knowledge and skills acquired with their colleagues to enhance service delivery.
Earlier, the Director of Training and Manpower Development in the Office of the Head of Civil Service, Muhammad Bello Ahmad, described the training as another milestone in positioning the Bauchi State Civil Service for greater efficiency, innovation, and effective service delivery in the digital era.
He said the office had organised a series of capacity-building programmes for officers across different cadres and professions, including Permanent Secretaries, Directors, drivers, messengers, gardeners, and security personnel.
Muhammad Bello Ahmad also disclosed that the office would soon organise pre-retirement training for civil servants who have indicated their intention to retire from service.
He commended the Bauchi State Government for prioritising human capital development, describing it as a critical driver of sustainable growth and development.
Speaking on the objective of the programme, the Management Consultant for the training, Alhaji Usman Bako Alhaji, said it was designed to prepare the state civil service for e-governance and ensure seamless administrative operations.
One of the participants, Muhammad Sagir Abdullahi, expressed appreciation to the organisers for the opportunity to participate in the training.
He pledged to apply the knowledge and skills acquired to improve productivity and service delivery in the civil service.
