The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has sensitised residents in Bauchi State on naira cleanliness and respect for the country’s economic growth and national development.
The move is under the bank’s Fair Initiatives Programme (FIP) a strategy designed to enlighten the public on its policies and initiatives.
While giving an overview of the Programme, the CBN Assistant Director, Corporate Communication and Investor Relations Department, Abuja, Mrs Hakama Sidi Ali said the bank’s management remained strongly committed to maintaining monetary and price stability as well as performing other essential functions of the Bank.
Mrs Hakama Ali, represented by the CBN Controller, Bauchi Branch, Mr Michael Dalyop urged Nigerians to uphold cleanliness and respect to the naira note by avoiding sprays during social gatherings, howking, mutilation as well as counterfeiting.
In a remark, the CBN Bauchi Branch Controller, Mr Michael Dalyop represented by Bank’s assistant Director Support Office, Salihu Bello Muhammad explained that the policies and intiatives being implemented would help in empowering all economic agents, Large and Small Medium Enterprises to enhance domestic productivity of the nation.
On his part, Controller Nigeria Deposit Insurance Commission, NDIC Bauchi Zonal Office, represented by Commission’s Principal Manager Kabiru Bala Muhammad guaranteed customers of commercial banks that the NDIC was always ready to receive depositors’ complaints whenever they figure out unclear service regarding their deposits.
The theme for the engagement is “Driving Alternative Payment Channel as a Tool For Financial Inclusion, Growth and Accelerated Economic Development.”
The event had in attendance representatives of commercial banks, security agencies, students, youth groups, traditional leaders, persons with disabilities among others.
