The Bauchi State Government has announced the immediate closure of all public and private primary, secondary and tertiary institutions including the Federal Government-owned schools operating within the state following heightened security concerns.
In a statement signed by the Information and Public Relations Officer of the State Ministry of Education Jalaludeen Usman said the decision followed extensive consultations with security agencies and other stakeholders.
According to the statement, the measure became necessary to safeguard students, teachers, and school communities amid rising threats.
The statement says the government acknowledged inconvenience the sudden closure may cause but stressing that protecting children remains its highest priority calling on parents, guardians, and school proprietors to remain calm and cooperative as authorities are working to restore normalcy.
It further emphasized that the government is working closely with security agencies to address the situation and urged citizens to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to security operatives.
The statement added that the Ministry of Education will provide further updates as developments unfold with schools expected to reopen once the environment is deemed safe.
