Prominent voices have issued a rallying cry to Nigeria’s youth, urging them to embrace their pivotal role in shaping the nation’s leadership future.
The event, organised by Junior Chamber International (JCI) Bauchi City at Federal Polytechnic Bauchi, marking International Human Duties Day, brought together students and civic leaders to discuss youth empowerment and social responsibility.
Keynote speaker Malam Hassan Alhaji Hassan, former Dean of the School of General Studies and JCI Human Duties Ambassador, delivered a powerful message: “Our youth must first see themselves as accountable citizens before they can transform our leadership landscape.”
Hassan emphasised the global influence of young people in decision-making processes across all sectors. “From boardrooms to government houses, today’s youth are strong pillars towards ensuring tomorrow’s Nigeria,” he told attendees.
The polytechnic’s Rector Alhaji Sani Usman, represented by the Dean, School of Agricultural Engineering, Dr Abdullahi Mohammed who assured strong support for the initiative, commended JCI for creating what he termed “a vital platform for leadership development”.
The workshop featured practical advice for young attendees, as JCI Ambassador Abigail Hardo Adegoke cautioned against reckless behaviour in pursuit of success,
She stated that “No ambition is worth your life – the most meaningful achievements come to those who persist.”
JCI Bauchi City President Akintunde Tajudeen Taiwo pledged continued partnership with educational institutions to nurture emerging leaders.
“We’re committed to building leadership pipelines that will serve Nigeria for decades to come,” he assured.
