Team Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University ATBU Bauchi has emerged 24th in medals ranking with twelve medals at the just concluded 27th National University Games NUGA held at the University of Jos in Plateau state.
A statement by the Director Information and Public Relations of the University Malam Zailani Bappah says the team won twelve medals in various categories of games competed at the event.
The statement says the event which saw over one hundred Universities from across in attendance, further adds to the institution’s continued outstanding and record-breaking performance in the Universities games.
It says ATBU athletes secured medals comprising of three Golds in Men’s Badminton, 66 Kg Men’s Judo, 110 metres Men’s Hurdles, and three Silvers in 110 metres men’s Hurdles, Men’s Beach Volleyball, and Men’s Badminton Singles.
Others according to the statement are six Bronze Medals in 57 kg female Taekwondo, Men’s Judo Open Weight, men’s Badminton Doubles, and two medals in men’s Classical Chess.
The statement says the achievement has broken the university’s previous record of 3 Gold, 1 Silver, and 1 Bronze, marking this year’s event as the most successful outing in the institution’s history of NUGA.
