Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, ATBU Bauchi has matriculated 4,355 students for the 2025/2026 Academic session with a call on them to rise above the temptations of drug abuse, cultism and other acts of Social vices.
The Vice Chancellor of the institution Professor Ibrahim Hassan Garba who made the call at the matriculation ceremony said immoral acts such as examination malpractice, indecent dressing, are poisonous traps that contravenes the University regulations which attract sanctions to include rustication and explosion.
“I charge you with fiery resolve: Reject drugs, the poisonous tempests that drown brilliance in despair and snuff out lives before they blaze. Defy cultism, those dark illusions of power that fracture brotherhood into bloodshed and shatter futures. Banish examination malpractices, immorality, and every vice that whispers defeat”, ATBU VC appeals.
Professor Ibrahim Garba congratulated the newly admitted students, urging them to acquaint themselves with the Students’ Handbook, study hard, forge bonds with mentors, and always be punctual to guarantee their stay at the institution.
He said the university remains committed to producing graduates equipped with knowledge, innovation and strong character through its programmes in science, engineering, health sciences and other fields.
“ATBU Bauchi is more than an institution; it is a fountain of legends, where we ascend global rankings through trailblazing programs in the sciences, engineering, health sciences and allied areas of our mandate. Here, your dreams will soar on wings of discovery”, Garba states.
The Vice Chancellor gave the breakdown of the admitted students to include College of Medical Sciences 388, Faculties of Agriculture and Agricultural Technology 231, Computing 526, Engineering and Engineering Tech 933, Environmental Technology 726, Management Sciences 356, Science 800, Technology Education 288, SPESSE Centre of Excellence 107, while the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine is awaiting clearance.
“At this juncture, it is my pleasure to announce to you that we are matriculating 4,355 fresh students in the academic family of ATBU, Bauchi,”
Administering the Oath to the matriculants, the Registrar ATBU Bauchi Alhaji Kabiru Garba Aminu urged them to be guided by the sworn oath, stressing that the university would not hesitate to apply sanctions against violators.
