The Office of the Special Adviser to the Bauchi State Governor on Societal Reorientation has disbanded a gang of illicit drug dealers at the heart of Maraban Liman Katagum Market during special operation by the enforcement unit of the program.
During the operation, members of the enforcement unit were able to arrest one person and destroyed some illicit substances.
Speaking to newsmen after the operation, the Special Adviser to the Bauchi State Governor on Societal Reorientation, Retired Air Commodore Tijjani Baba Gamawa explained that the program was designed with a view to get rid of some forms of social vices especially among the youth.
To achieve this according to Tijjani Baba Gamawa his office had already mapped out strategies toward reducing the rate of crime and criminality through sensitisation campaign in all nucks and cranies of the state.
He explained that already several meetings were held with various stakeholders, particularly the transport sector and security agencies to address the problem of road blockage during market days in Alkaleri, Gadarmaiwa, Maraban Liman Katagum, Tilde among others.
Also speaking, the Special Assistant to the Bauchi State Governor on Societal Reorientation, Salem Malle announced that the state government is committed to addressing the problem of road blockage in most of the markets by providing alternative routes where necessary.
Saleh Malle called on people to support the initiative aimed at preventing chaos on the road as well as other forms of social media in the state.
