The National Orientation Agency, NOA has expressed determination to garner public support towards the full implementation of the tax reforms policy of the federal government.
The tax reforms introduced by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu led administration are expected to come into effect in January 2026.
The Director General of NOA, Malam Lanre Issa-Onilu, made this known when the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms paid him a courtesy visit at his office in Abuja.
Issa-Onilu noted that technology has simplified things and changed the negative narratives of mischief makers who are bent on spreading fake news about the new tax laws.
He emphasised the need for continued sensitization on the benefits of the tax laws to complement government efforts in improving the country’s tax system while addressing double taxation experienced by tax payers.
The NOA DG pointed out that the agency was leveraging on the use of modern technology such as Artificial Intelligence in disseminating information on government policies and programmes to the public.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Presidential Tax Reforms Committee, Mr. Oyedele said the visit was aimed at seeking support in informing citizens about the new tax laws to prevent misinformation.
The tax reforms bill was signed into law by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in June this year as part of efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s fiscal system.
