Development Exchange Centre, (DEC) implemented CASCADE project in Bauchi State, has graduated one hundred and forty five women from fifteen groups across Dass Local Government Area after completing livelihood training.
The beneficiaries were trained under the CASCADE Social Analysis and Action (SAA) programme through the existing Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs) aimed at promoting social and economic inclusion.
CASCADE’s Gender Technical Officer, Ms Ann Alberta Bot, said the SAA sessions enabled women to discuss strategies to address harmful cultural practices and gender-based violence in their communities.
She added that the weekly discussions also focused on economic empowerment, exclusive breastfeeding, nutrition, antenatal attendance, and hospital-based delivery to enhance family health and well-being.
Radio Nigeria gathered that the CASCADE project is currently being implemented across five local government areas of Bauchi, Dass, Jama’are, Ningi, and Toro to strengthen household resilience.
A beneficiary from Tsintsiya Women Group in Bundot Ward, A’isha Abubakar, said her family had adopted peace promotion, inclusive chores, and other positive practices that improved community harmony.
A male gender champion, Mr Sama’ila Haruna, commended the project for reshaping community attitudes towards gender equality, nutrition, and healthy living as the event featured drama, cultural dances, and exhibition of local dishes.
