The Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, has called on motorists and other road users to make road safety a shared responsibility by obeying traffic regulations and adopting safe road-use practices.
This is part of the Corps sensitisation campaign and activities marking the 2026 International Customer Service Week Stakeholders’ Forum with the theme“Extra Mile: Our Shared Responsibility for Safer Roads and Better Service Delivery.”
The campaign held at the Yakari Express Corporation Head Office in Bauchi, is aimed at education motorists and passengers on their shared responsibilities for safer road-use.
Speaking, the Zonal Commanding Officer, FRSC Zone RS12 Headquarters, Bauchi, Assistant Corps Marshal, ACM Leye Adegboyega, said the mandate of the FRSC goes beyond traffic enforcement to include road safety education, crash prevention, rescue operations, traffic management and public enlightenment.
ACM Adegboyega urged motorists to obey traffic rules, ensure their vehicles are properly maintained for safe driving and cooperate with road safety personnel at all times.
Speaking with journalists after the programme, the Bauchi Sector Commander of the FRSC, Corps Commander, CC Caleb Luka, expressed satisfaction with the cordial relationship between the Corps and the management and drivers of Yakari Express.
Caleb Luka commended the company for cooperating with the Corp, calling for sustained partnership through regular engagements, compliance with safety regulations and responsible driving.
He emphasised the need for drivers to see road safety officials as partners in protecting lives, not just enforcement officers.
The State Corp Commander identified speeding, overloading and reckless driving by some commercial and tipper-truck drivers as major road safety concerns, particularly along the Jos-Bauchi Expressway, urging them to exercise patience, avoid dangerous driving practices and respect other road users to reduce road traffic crashes.
