The Committee on the establishment of the Mining Institute Alkaleri, in Bauchi State MIABAS, has recommended the use of the Mineral Buying Centre in Alkaleri as temporary take-off site for the proposed institute.
At its final session, the committee agreed that the facility is suitable for immediate use, pending the development of a Permanent campus for the institute.
The State Commissioner of Natural Resources Development, Muhammad Maiwada Bello, who presided over the session, described the outcome as a major step towards establishing the institute.
He said the committee’s final report would be submitted to Governor Bala Mohammed for consideration, as part of efforts to develop the mining sector in the state.
According to the Commissioner, once the Governor approves the proposal, it will be sent to the State Assembly for legislative approval.
Muhammad Maiwada Bello commended members of the Central Working Committee and sub-committees for their hard work, professionalism, and commitment in completing the task on time.
He also thanked Governor Bala Mohammed for his support, expressing confidence that quick action by the government will enable the institute to begin operations and support economic growth in the state.
