Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, ATBU Bauchi delegates at the just concluded North-East Nigerian University Games Association, NUGA qualifying games competition have emerged overall winners topping the table with 34 Gold and 14 Silver medals.
The Zone M Games featured eleven Universities comprising Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Bauchi, Saadu Zungur University Gadau, Federal University of Health Sciences Azare, Federal University Gashua, Yobe State University, Federal University of Kashere, Gombe State University, University of Maiduguri, Borno State University and the Nigerian Army University, Biu.
A statement by the Director Information and Public Relations of ATBU Bauchi Malam Zailani Bappa says the games, where held at the Gombe State University between Wednesday, 24th September to Saturday, 27th September, 2025.
The statement lists the games competed by the university team to include Athletics track event, Field Athletics such as shot put -discus- javelin, Taekwondo, Chess, Judo, Table Tennis, Boxing, Badminton, and Beach Volley with majority of the competitors from the institution emerging either first or second.
It quotes the Vice Chancellor, Professor Ibrahim Hassan Garba as congratulating the team for its wonderful outing in the games.
According to the statement, Professor Ibrahim Garba promised continued support to the Team towards maintaining its pride and status in all Nigeria Universities’ Sports competition.
