The Peoples Democratic Party in Bauchi State has announced the collapse of its political discussions with the All Progressives Congress, confirming that negotiations have been formally brought to an end.
The development follows a recent meeting between Governor Bala Mohammed and leaders of the APC, who invited the governor and other elected officials to consider joining the ruling party national.
Speaking to journalists in Bauchi, the State Chairman Sama’ila Burga said the governor and PDP stakeholders participated in the talks with a commitment to inclusiveness and constructive political engagement throughout the discussions process.
He explained that the party held wide consultations with key stakeholders, including members of the National Assembly, the State House of Assembly, and local government councils before reaching its decision.
According to the chairman, discussions stalled after both sides failed to reach consensus on critical conditions, leading to the formal termination of the engagement between the two major political parties.
Samaila Burga added that the party is considering other options, including potential alliances with interested political parties before making a formal decision.
