Toro Science Secondary School Old Boys Association TOSSOBA 1985 set has unveiled the rehabilitation and construction of a five kilometers road within the school premises to ease free flow of transportation.
The set has also secured approval for the construction of an examination hall for the school to be constructed very soon by Nigerian Building Road and Research Institute whose Chief Executive Officer Professor Samson Duna is their member.
Addressing the old students, the State’s Governor Bala Muhammad who appreciated them for the intervention to ensure conducive learning environment assured his commitment to reposition the education sector.
Bala Muhammad represented by the state’s Commissioner of Education Dr Lawan Rimim Zayam pledged to fence the school and repair the school bus to guarantee security of lives and property of the students and their teachers.
While commending the 1985 set for the intervention the Governor admitted that there were numerous challenges facing public schools and called on other alumni associations to emulate for the overall development of the state.
In a remark, the Chairman of the 1985 set Dr Muhammad Sadiq who appreciated the members for their cooperation towards supporting the school enjoined them to sustain the tempo for the students to excel.
Dr Muhammad Sadiq recalled that the idea to reunite for them to assist the school was conceive among some few members which resulted to the flagged off of the projects executed by the 1985 set.
In a goodwill message, the State Commissioner of Education Dr Lawan Rimim Zayam represented by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry Ali Babayo who commended the old students for the gesture enjoined the students to protect the facilities provided.
Some of the 1985 set spoken at the event Muhammad Jalo from Yobe State, Engineer Muhammad Bello from Adamawa who appreciated other members for their support and cooperation for the reunion advised them to sustain the spirit.
The current Principal of the school Adamu Aminu Ibrahim who highlighted some of their achievements in external examinations appealed for the fencing of the College to enhance security.
One of the teachers of the 1985 set Hamidu Kadai Kuta admitted that the reunion has rekindled their memories recalled that things were better in those days than what is being witnessed nowadays and prayed for the better.
In a goodwill message the Emir Dr Rilwanu Suleiman Adamu who was also an old student of the school said what has been witnessed in the school signifies the set’s commitment to ensure brighter future for the school and the state as a whole.
In a vote of thanks, General Abubakar Maikano Gori retired who commended Governor Bala Muhammad for initiating friendly education policies pledged to give 50 thousand naira to the first three best students of the school.
