The Bauchi State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Alhaji Bashir Ya’u, has charged the newly constituted Management Board of Wikki Tourists Football Club to uphold fairness, transparency and accountability in the administration of the club.
The Commissioner gave the charge when the Sole Administrator of Wikki Tourists FC, Alhaji Haruna Bako, led members of the newly constituted board on a congratulatory and self introduction visit to his office in Bauchi.
The visit was aimed at congratulating the Commissioner on his appointment, formally introducing the new board members to the Ministry and seeking stronger collaboration and institutional support for the development of Wikki Tourists FC.
Speaking during the visit, Alhaji Bashir Ya’u congratulated the new leadership of the club and urged members of the board to place the overall interest of Wikki Tourists above personal interests in the discharge of their responsibilities.
He stressed that the welfare of players and officials, as well as fairness and justice, must remain the guiding principles in the management of the club, particularly in dealing with players, coaches, technical officials, supporters and other stakeholders.
The Commissioner also called for greater professionalism, discipline and accountability, noting that these qualities were essential to building a stable and competitive football club capable of achieving sustainable success.
Alhaji Ya’u charged the new board to work collectively towards ensuring the quick return of Wikki Tourists FC to the Premier League. He assured them that Governor Bala Mohammed remained committed to supporting the club in achieving its objectives.
According to him, the Governor has continued to demonstrate keen interest and commitment towards the development and success of Wikki Tourists FC, particularly its return to the Nigeria Premier Football League during the 2026/2027 league season. He also urged the board to pay greater attention to identifying and developing football talents across Bauchi State.
Earlier, the Sole Administrator of Wikki Tourists FC, Alhaji Haruna Bako, thanked the Commissioner for receiving the delegation and pledged the commitment of the new management board to work closely with the Ministry and other relevant stakeholders.
He said the leadership was determined to reposition the club, strengthen its administrative and technical structures and create the necessary conditions for improved performance both on and off the pitch.
Bako explained that members of the new board were carefully selected based on their wealth of experience, dedication and professionalism.
The visit ended with a renewed commitment by both the Ministry and Wikki Tourists FC to deepen their partnership in the interest of football development and youth empowerment in Bauchi State, as the club intensifies efforts to regain its place in the Premier League and restore the pride and prestige of Wikki Tourists Football Club, the Pride of Bauchi.
