Over fifty Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises, MSMEs from North East geopolitical zone have been equipped with knowledge and skills to enable them compete in the global market.

Our Correspondent reports that the training was organised by Potential and Existing Nature-Positive MSMEs, SPENM Programme.

The programme, is being implemented by the International Trade Facilitators Association, ITFA and sponsored by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) under the Global Environment Facility Small Grants Programme, GEF-SGP.

During the opening of the two-day training at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, ATBU Bauchi, the ITFA’s Technical Adviser, Dr Abel Owotemu said the training also aims to ensure sustainable, nature-positive business practices.

Dr Abel Owotemu revealed that the SPENM Programme has so far trained over 100 participants from the North Central and North East.

In a remarks, the Vice Chancellor of ATBU, Professor Ibrahim Hassan Garba expressed the university’s commitment to agri-business programmes, designed to inculcate entrepreneurial mindsets among graduates.

In an interview, a participant, Dr Chime Obodozie, appreciated the initiative, noting the vast potential of the global market for MSMEs.

Globe FM Bauchi reports that during the event, the participants were coached about fair trade, where some food processors among them exhibited their products for prospective buyers.
