Stakeholders working on Peace building in Bauchi State have called for dialogue, inclusion, investment in youth and mutual understanding towards removing barriers and sustaining developmental strides in the state.
They made the call at an event to mark
the 2026 International Day of Peace with the theme: Invest in Peace for Everyone, Everywhere and Everyday -Towards the 2027 General Elections in Nigeria.
This is part of efforts by the Ambassadors of Peace Bauchi in collaboration with the Universal Peaceful Solutions to bring stakeholders to brainstorm and dialogue on ways to ensure peaceful coexistence and sustainable development.
Speaking at the event, the Chairman Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State Engineer Joseph Gaya said peace does not stand in isolation but is built on the basis of inclusion, understanding, dialogue and communication.
Engineer Gaya acknowledged the adoption of a Peace Model by the Kaduna state government through inclusivity among diverse ethnic nationalities to ensure peace and stability in volatile communities.
“I want to advise states particularly in the northeast and northwest facing various forms of insecurity to adopt the Kaduna Peace Model by establishing the Ministry of Internal security, interfaith and religious bureau and other agencies to ensure all inclusive participation in peace building and conflict mitigation at all levels of governance snd community structures”, Engr Gaya highlighted.
The Emir of Bauchi Alhaji Rilwanu Sulaiman Adamu represented by the District Head of Jahun Alhaji Aminu Yakubu who said the traditional institutions will continue to lend their voices to strengthen democratic institutions, called on citizens support towards entrenching democratic principles especially as the 2027 elections draw nearer.
The Assistant Inspector General of Police Zone 12, AIG Vungmoh Kwaimo represented by the Public Relations Officer SP Mohammed Jalige urged citizens to do away with religious divisions and unite especially at the critical moment of the 2027 electioneering campaigns.
Speaking on behalf of the Organisers, Ambassador Emmanuel Durkwa called for strong investments in peace building initiatives in the areas of dialogue, education, employment, and economic opportunities particularly for youth.
In an interview with Radio Nigeria, the State Coordinator Ambassadors of Peace Bauchi, Mr Paul Daniel said a peaceful, free, fair and credible 2027 elections is non-negotiable, hence the meed for all political actors to exhibit decorum, unity and peaceful conduct in their dispositions.
“We call on all the political actors that violence can never lead to a successful free and fair elections, they are the 9nes to make the atmosphere conducive. We call on all stakeholders including political parties, religious leaders, security agencies including the media to serve as tools in encouraging people to participate in the electoral process to ensure free and fair elections”, Ambassador Paul emphasized.
The event saw the presentation of peace ambassadors’ awards to deserving personalities and organisations for their contributions to peace building initiatives in the state including the Emir of Bauchi Dr Rilwanu Adamu, Executive Chairman Zangon Kataf LGA Engr. Joseph Gaya, Abubakar Baba Ahmad of Radio Nigeria Globe FM, Naziru Abdullahi of Bauchi Radio Corporation BRC, Alheri YS Foundation, among many others.
